CELEBRATING 30 YEARS IN BUSINESS

2021 marked our 30th year in business! 30 years - WOW! As a family run company we’re super proud of this achievement and truly feel we’re in the best shape we’ve ever been. Stephen and Gaenor Wood, who founded Alexander Windows, identified the need for a quality window and door installation business in the Stockport area. Their goal was to offer the right products to homeowners, at the right price, without the heavy handed sales techniques used by bigger companies.

Over the years we’ve grown and developed our offering, and our way of running the business has changed. Every decision we’ve made has had our customers at the forefront of it. What’s taken place leads us to the position we’re in today; a busy, thriving Trade Counter with a knowledgeable team supplying a vast range of quality products, and a retail installation division offering the best to homeowners in the Stockport and Cheshire area.

Our 30 Year Timeline

What our 30 years in business means for our Trade Customers

When we opened our doors for the first time in 1991, we fabricated Kömmerling windows in our in-house fabrication plant. Stephen’s many years’ experience in fabricating windows and doors meant that he knew what was required to produce quality products. Although we stopped fabricating our own windows and doors in 2017, this experience has been absolutely vital to our Trade Counter customers and our retail installation teams. Our quality control measures are still as tight as they were when we made our own products, and because of this we have been able to handpick the very best suppliers to buy from, as we know exactly what to look for.

If there are ever any issues with supply we are the first to know about it. Our installation division means it’s as important to us as it is to you that supply issues are dealt with quickly. Unlike Trade Counters who sell to the trade only, we fully understand every little pain something like delayed products or quality issues can cause. All of this experience has allowed us to keep our finger on the pulse and ensure we only offer products from the most reliable suppliers.

We offer products that homeowners want

Another benefit of having both retail and trade customers has resulted in a huge offering of the products and brands that customers want. If our Trade Counter team is asked for certain products it’s likely that our retail customers are asking for the same thing. We’re proud to supply a huge range including the following:

We offer great technical support to our Trade customers

Our in-house team has a wealth of technical knowledge. This comes from the fact many colleagues who worked on our shop floor are still with us today. If you have installation questions, adjustment questions or need other technical support, we have the experience to offer help and advice. Our website provides support on the most common queries and helps thousands of customers every year. You can read more on this on our technical support page.

The best showroom in the country

Our huge showroom is as much a selling tool for us as it is for you. We’ve invested heavily in recent years, providing a high end space for you to use with your own customers. If your clients visit our showroom without you, it’s our Trade Counter team that will help them - even on a Saturday. And if your customer is happy picking from a brochure, everything can be found on our website.

What 30 years in business has taught us

Alexander Windows was founded with a vision to create a reliable, trustworthy service for homeowners and tradespeople. Associate Director, Lauren Tutton, continues “Over the 30 years that we have been trading, one thing has remained constant: our customers value exceptional service. They turn to us for our high standards, and nothing brings us more satisfaction than meeting those expectations. This is a very exciting time for our business and our sector, and we’re looking forward to the next chapter”.
